Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna addressing a public meeting at Chilakaluripet in Guntur district on Saturday.
CHILAKALURIPET: Unanimously elected Telugudesa Party Rajya Sabha member Nandamuri Harikrishna vowed to put Nara Chandrababu Naidu back in the Chief Minister’s position in the coming elections and predicted that his party will regain power in the State in the coming Assembly elections.
Addressing a series of public meetings and unveiling a statue of party founder and former chief minister N.T. Rama Rao at Bopudi 5 k.m. from here, he said "I will not sleep till I see Chandrababu Naidu back in saddle as it was NT Rama Rao and Naidu, who protected the Telugu `Atma Gauravam’ (self respect)."
On a day’s tour of Guntur district, Mr. Harikrishna first stopped at Boyapalem on the National Highway No.5 from there went to Edlapadu and was stopped by some chilly growers to show how their produce was getting wet due to incessant rains in the district for the past two days. The Rajya Sabha member accompanied by Party District president Prattipati Pulla Rao and Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra along with a host of party workers saw the status of chillies in the fields that were covered with tarpaulin.
He demanded immediate market intervention by the Markfed and criticized the Congress for failing to make the benefits of several of their schemes reach the real farmer at the ground level. Majority of the schemes were only on paper, while the middlemen fleeced the farmers, he alleged. He also addressed public meetings at Thimmapuram and Ganapavaram before entering Prakasam district late in the evening.
People came in large numbers at all the meetings and his inimitable style of speech attracted many, who dared the inclement weather due to the low pressure prevailing in the bay.
VIJAYAWADA: Rajya Sabha member-elect and TDP leader Nandamuri Harikrishna on Saturday criticised the Congress Government for “not taking tough measures” to ensure security to common people and described the law and order situation in the State as “hopeless and unsatisfactory”.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Harikrishna said that under the present leadership of the Congress party, atrocities of different proportions were being perpetrated on almost all sections of society. Particularly, safety of women was worsening day by day. “There is an unforeseen dip in the overall security scenario. Many people are feeling insecure under the present regime,” he said.
